Check whether AI assistants recommend your business.
The AI Visibility Checker runs live buying-intent prompts — the kind a customer types when they need someone today — across multiple AI assistants and reports whether your business gets named. It is free, results appear on this page, and no email address is required to run it.
What does the AI Visibility Checker test?
The AI Visibility Checker asks each assistant the question your next customer asks: name the best businesses in a given category and city. The checker runs several phrasings of that request against each model, then reports whether your business appeared in the answers — and which competitors were named instead.
An assistant answer is not a results page. There is no position two. The assistant names a handful of businesses and the conversation ends there, so the only reading that matters is binary: named, or not named.
The checker queries the same model families that power consumer assistants, through an API gateway. Consumer apps layer location and chat history on top, so an individual customer’s exact answer will vary — which is one reason a single run is a snapshot, not a measurement.
Why do AI assistants miss local businesses?
AI assistants miss local businesses because they read different data than Google does. ChatGPT draws most of the local businesses it surfaces first from the Foursquare Places API. Siri reads Apple Business Connect. Copilot reads Bing Places. A business that has only optimized its Google Business Profile is invisible to most of them.
The audience moved faster than the listings did. Asking an assistant to name a local provider went from a curiosity to an ordinary habit inside a year, while the assistants themselves can still vouch for only a sliver of the businesses in any given category — because nearly every local SEO program optimizes Google Business Profile and stops there. The recommendation rates for each assistant, with the publisher and sample size attached, are in our 2026 AI search statistics, and the listing-by-listing breakdown is in where AI assistants get local business data.
How reliable is one run of the checker?
One run of the AI Visibility Checker is useful as a snapshot and not reliable as a measurement — and anyone who tells you otherwise is selling something. These systems are non-deterministic: the same prompt can return a different answer minutes later. The meaningful number is aggregate share of voice across hundreds of prompts, tracked as a trend.
That is how the paid version of this work is measured. Our AI visibility tracking runs a fixed prompt panel monthly and reports share of voice over time, with the caveats stated rather than buried. No single-prompt result — including the one this tool just gave you — should change a marketing budget on its own.
What should you do about a bad result?
A bad AI visibility result is fixed in two steps. First, claim and correct the listings the assistants actually read — Foursquare, Apple Business Connect and Bing Places — because almost no local business has. Second, make your website extractable: server-rendered, question-structured, answer-first. Both are ordinary, checkable work, not a black box.
The stakes are larger than the traffic numbers suggest. Visitors who arrive from an assistant’s answer convert at a large multiple of ordinary organic visitors, because the recommendation was made before they ever reached the site. The measured multiple and the funnel split behind it are set out, with their caveats, on our AI visibility tracking page. Low volume, unusually high intent.
Our AI search work covers the full program — listings, extraction structure, entity consistency, and monthly measurement. If you want a diagnosis before committing to anything, the $497 AI Visibility Teardown shows exactly where you stand across four assistants and three listing platforms, credited in full against any retainer or build started within 45 days.

Common questions
- Is the AI Visibility Checker really free?
- Yes. Running a check costs nothing and requires no email address — results render directly on this page. We ask for contact details in exactly two situations: if the live check is offline and you want the result run by hand and emailed, or if you want the deeper $497 teardown afterward.
- Why did I get a different result the second time I ran it?
- Because AI assistants are non-deterministic. The same prompt can surface different businesses depending on timing, phrasing and caching — that is how the technology works, not a defect in the tool. Treat any single run as a snapshot. A trustworthy measurement aggregates hundreds of prompts over time and reads the trend.
- Which AI assistants does the checker query?
- The current panel covers OpenAI, Google and Perplexity model families, queried through an API gateway with the same buying-intent phrasing a customer would use. The consumer apps built on these models add location and personal context on top, so answers vary by user — one more reason we report presence, not position.
